Through all Life’s sunny hours
I cannot find the stars.
For Life is good, and brightly shines the sun.
I know the stars are there,
And yet I do not care
To seek them
After light-filled days are done.
But in Life’s darkest nights
My spirit seeks those heights,
Until it rests on Heaven’s dazzling rim.
And only then I know
How brightly stars can glow,
That carefree days
Seem always make so dim.
Surely it is best
To call to mind the rest
Of lights that guide us through all vital things.
The light that God is giving
Is for all parts of living.
And all the grace
His lovingkindness brings.
